Spatial sequencing slows us to work in 3D, both visually and in movement.

Some indicators of problems with spatial sequencing include:

• Trouble walking up and down stairs (awareness of the body’s place in space)
• Physical and social issues in the playground – bumping into other people
• Difficulty differentiating between horizontal and vertical positions
• Missing social cues (e.g. slow to follow a conversation; when they turn their head to the person talking they are too slow, and miss expressions)

Sequencing – Time

The ability to work with time is a crucial skill, not only in Maths class but in everyday life. Trip planning, itineraries, catching a plane, filling in a time sheet all depend upon the understanding of time.

Some indicators of problems with time include:

• Confusion with the names and order of the days and months
• Difficulty with the concepts of yesterday and tomorrow
• Confusion with the names and order of the seasons
• Inability to explain a birthday, fortnight, month or year
• Inability to explain a second, minute or hour
