First Aid Support

I remember the day my daughter started school, it was a big day full of new challenges but i knew my daughter Abbey would do a fantastic job! Abbey was a bright, energetic 5 year old who could manage complex instructions on the farm from a young age. When I received her first report I was surprised that Abbey had struggled to start reading and was instead memorizing her reading books.

As time progressed, Abbey’s experience of school deteriorated and instead of a happy social child, I had a withdrawn and emotional wee girl. Homework became a real challenge, I was stressed, she was stressed and I just felt like home was turning into a battle ground instead of a safe space. This is when Bridget came to the rescue! Bridget made learning fun, Abbey was diagnosed as Dyslexic by an educational psychologist which meant Bridget got straight to work on multisensory activities like drawing letters in flour and making them with clay.

Today Abbey is a 17 year old, she is a passionate and successful student receiving excellence in chemistry, biology, outdoor education and sculpture. An active member of the community, volunteering with the all stars programme to allow children with disabilities to enjoy school holiday activities. I believe that early intervention and a lot of hard work has allowed Abbey to become the person she alway has been on the inside, a happy, bubbly and very fun teenager.
